A heartfelt update from the farm
Many of our loyal and caring guests will remember the devastating flood that swept through the farm. We lost all our campsites, as well as the original Willem Hendrik House—washed away by the river, leaving no trace of what once stood there.
It has been a long road to recovery, but we are delighted to share that all our remaining accommodation has now been fully repaired and is welcoming guests once again.
With the exception of the Country Manor, all our accommodation is now completely off-grid. Each property has its own 5 kW solar system, solar panels and backup batteries, allowing us to offer a more sustainable and self-sufficient stay.
River Edge currently offers:
Joubert and Jan Albert: Two romantic couple cabin pods
Benjamin: A house sleeping 4–6 guests
Coetzer: A spacious house sleeping 8–10 guests
Country Manor: A beautiful home sleeping up to 12 guests
At this stage, there are no plans to rebuild the campsites. Instead, we are focusing on creating memorable and meaningful accommodation experiences for our guests. Rehabilitating the Breede River will be an ongoing project!
Celebrate something special at River Edge
Why not book all our accommodation—and perhaps a few nearby Airbnb properties—and host a celebration to remember on the farm?
We are also excited to share that we now own Monks Gin Distillery, acquired from our gin partners. How about celebrating a birthday, anniversary or special occasion at the distillery, complete with a beautifully curated menu?
New mountain cabins coming soon
There is even more exciting news on the horizon. We are building two new couple cabins that will form part of our upcoming mountain stay experience.
Imagine mountain views, a rock pool, wood-fired hot tubs, a small pool, stylish romantic interiors and the ultimate private hideaway for couples looking to reconnect.
From flood recovery to exciting new beginnings, River Edge continues to grow while remaining a place where guests can relax, celebrate and enjoy the beauty of the farm.
Book your spring escape now and enjoy 20% off two or more midweek nights, plus a welcome bottle of Botha Cellar bubbly.
