Trail Overview & Details

• Starting Point: This +- 5 km hike, conveniently begins right next to the farm's coffee shop.
• Highlights: Spectacular local rock formations, abundant birdlife, and a rewarding trek toward the Bakkrans window and seasonal waterfall.
• Pet-Friendly: Well-behaved dogs on leashes can join you on the Bakkrans hiking trail. Do turn around if you encounter the roaming baboon troop
• Difficulty: Strenuous start, steep downhill end. Moderate to difficult overall.

All hikers have to complete an indemnity form at the farm shop before proceeding on the hiking trail.

The cost is R 50.00 per person. Not wise to hike alone. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
We do not recommend children under 6 years to hike this route.

Start to Bakkrans 50min (escape exit available)
Bakkrans to Waterfall 45min
Waterfall to the end/start 20min
+- 115 min in total

We recommend you start this hike before 12:00. This hike has a strenuous start to get to Bakkrans. From there the route trails with no serious uphills.
A little bit of a rock scramble and you will reach the shaded waterfall area.
Steep downhill with steps after the waterfall till you reaches the Jeep track from where it is plain sailing to the finish.

The peace and breathtaking views are all worth the climb. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful walk in nature, the Bakkrans Hiking Route offers an unforgettable experience with memories that will last a lifetime.

After your hike, how about a gin cocktail at Monks Distillery or coffee and cake at the farm shop??

Most relaxing getaway

Most Relaxing Getaway!First time in years I've slept so late - beds incredibly comfortable, friendly hosts, beautiful setting, and well-equipped cottages. In Winter the fireplaces are amazing and I can only just imagine how wonderful swimming in the river right outside your cottage must be. Kids enjoyed fishing, and the hot tub was the cherry on the cake. Will definitely be back!

Wow. Stunning views and birdlife. House comes with everything you would need and more. Clean and neat. Was very grateful for the stash of fans as it was so so hot. Good fun in the river on the boats and swimming. Braai facilities and fully kitted out kitchen. We'll definitely be back!

Fabulous spot

Fabulous spot, kitted out with all you need for a comfortable stay. Location is secluded, with the river perfectly positioned right on the doorstep. Will certainly head back again.
